Ghana tipped to progress to the quaterfinal in Qatar after multiply nationality switches

Ghana has been tipped to progress in Qatar to the quarterfinals stage of the upcoming FIFA world cup 2022 which will be held in November to December due to multiple nationality switches this week as confirmed by the GFA.

The Ghanaian young players who are involved in the nationality switches are Inãki Williams of Athletic Blibao, Tariq Lamptey of Brighton, Stephen Ambrosius of Hamburg, Patrick Pfeiffer of Darmstadt and Mohammed Salisu of southampton .

Ghana is attracting players who are born to Ghanaian parents but playing for other countries in Europe to represent the motherland to compete with the World best players in Qatar looking at the group which Ghana has been placed.

Ghana 60th in FIFA ranking is tied in Group H together with Uruguay ranked 13th, South Korea ranked 29th and Portugal ranked 8th in the World Cup. With only the top two teams getting to the next stage ie round of 16, it’s likely that Ghana the lowest team ranked in the group will progress to the next stage of the World Cup.

A Ghanaian Private jet broker, Kelvin Mensah, has revealed that the team of American super star, Diddy, reached out to him to connect them to Black Sherif.

Kelvin Mensah, also known as PJ Kev, is an entrepreneur born and raised in the Bronx, New York. In an interview with Hitz FM’s Andy Dosty, PJKev said he alerted Black Sherif about the effort made by Diddy’s team to get to him.

“Didy reached out to me trying to get in contact with Black Sherif,. I told him {Black Sherif} on Instagram. I said Diddy’s Team is trying to reach out to you.”

He indicated that Black Sherif responded to his message on Instagram. However, he can’t tell if any fruitful negotiations have ensued as a result of him connecting them.

“Yea he did respond. I don’t know. I just connect the dots and go my way. I really don’t wanna be in the music game any more because I have no interest in the music business although I love music. It’s just not my thing.”

Diddy, who is the founder of Bad Boy Entertainment is known to have worked on Burna Boy’s ‘TWICE AS TALL’ album.

According to reports , Black sherif and his team has not shown any positive vibes concerning Diddys message.

A fan who was disappointed that the Ghanaian artist was not responding said the budding musician and his team are fond of doing so.

He compared Black Sheriff’s attitude to Nigerian artists and echoed that the latter would have taken advantage of the opportunity.

Apple users might be able to text in showers and rains

Apple recently secured a new patent that may make iPhones waterproof and allow users to adjust touch sensitivity so that they are better able to access their phone screens in the rain.

Current iPhone models are water-resistant but it's still tricky texting with water drops on the screen.

With the new patent on the way, Apple plans to make iPhone screens easy to use during “a moisture exposure event”.

Apple may also allow the iPhone to adjust pressure sensitivity and react to taps on-screen when a certain force is applied, which will eliminate any pressure by water droplets.

The upcoming iPhones with this new patented technology could change the force of touch inputs depending if your finger is dry or wet.

"The electronic device can include a moisture detector capable of detecting an amount of moisture present at the protective cover, where when the amount of moisture is greater than a threshold amount, the processor determines a position of the touch event based on detection signals provided by the capacitance detector and the applied force detector," the patent filing describes.

Iñaki Williams confirmed he will play for Ghana

Athletic Bilbao forward Iñaki Williams says he will “defend the Ghana shirt” as he confirmed in a video published on social media that he will represent Ghana’s Black Stars henceforth.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a nationality switch to Ghana in the past few months.

Iñaki was born in Spain to Ghanaian parents and is eligible to play for the West African country. He made his Spain debut on May 29, 2016. However, the striker had no further competitive appearance with Spain to tie him to the European nation. As a result, he was eligible for a nationality switch due to FIFA’s rules.

The Ghanaian singer whilst talking about her new song in a recent interview has disclosed that it's a broken heart song personal to her. "My new song 'Survivor' is a broken heart song, it's a personal song to me," she said.

The leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) the National Association of Graduate Teachers (, NAGRAT) Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) and Teachers & Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) have asked their members to withdraw their services beginning today, Monday July 4.

This decision was announced by General Secretary of GNAT, Thomas Musah Tanko in Accra on Monday 4 July.

The teachers earlier gave the government by end of June this year to grant the 20 per cent Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) or risk the anger of over 240,000 teachers nationwide.

According to GNAT the current delay continues to affect the meagre earnings of workers.

Manchester City need “two exceptional games” to overcome Real Madrid and reach the Champions League final, said City boss Pep Guardiola.

Premier League leaders City take on La Liga leaders Real in the first leg of the semi-final at home on Tuesday.

Guardiola’s side lost 1-0 to Chelsea in their first Champions League final last season, while Real have been European champions 13 times.

“It is not necessary to say how good Real Madrid are,” said Guardiola.

“If we have to compete with their history, we don’t have any chance. The history is there, we can’t change it, but it’s 11 against 11 with one ball moving.

Social media reports have it that Kelvynboy was billed to perform at University of Cape Coast's 60th-anniversary launch. However, the Down Flat crooner had equally been booked for an event at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. So in a bid to satisfy both parties, Kelvynboy went to the campus of UCC first to perform so as to rush back as fast as possible to Accra to thrill the UPSA students. Kelvynboy's plans were not satisfactory enough for the students of UCC who felt aggrieved that he wanted to perform early which is not noted for A-list artistes (noted for coming on stage almost at the end). Didier Drogba failed to become president of Ivory Coast’s football federation (FIF) as Saturday’s long-delayed elections were won by Yacine Idriss Diallo.

Former Chelsea striker Drogba, named in the Premier League’s Hall of Fame this week, was ousted in the first round of voting with just under a fifth of the vote.

In the second round, Diallo, a businessman and current FIF executive member, squeezed out former FIF vice-president Sory Diabaté by 63 votes to 61.

Saturday’s election in the political capital Yamoussoukro had been postponed several times since 2020, primarily over the ongoing issues over the eligibility of certain candidates, with Drogba prominent among them.

After Fifa appointed a normalisation committee to oversee Ivorian football, Drogba’s candidacy – initially rejected over whether he had the requisite number of official backers – was eventually accepted.

Drogba played more than 100 times for the Elephants, including at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, but was told in August 2020 that he was not eligible to stand in the election.

After intervention from Fifa, the 44-year-old, who won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and the Champions League across two spells with Chelsea, retained his hopes of running the game in the West African country.

Yet Ivory Coast’s all-time top scorer was eliminated in the first round with 21 votes in the first round, when Diallo (59 votes) and Diabaté (50 votes) made it through to the second round.

Drogba’s achievements and ambitious programme for the development of football in Ivory Coast had raised his popularity, and after his defeat many of his supporters expressed their anger on social media on Saturday.

“The presidents of clubs have just killed Ivorian football, by eliminating Didier Drogba,” one user, called Rosana225, said. “I hope that Ivorians will not take revenge by boycotting the 2023 Afcon.”

Diallo has a mandate of four years and the organisation of the 2023 African Cup of Nations, which Ivory Coast is hosting, will be its first major challenge.

The Afrobeats Songs Chart would rank the 50 most popular Afrobeats songs in the United States. The chart was live on Billboard.com on March 29.

The ranking was based on a weighted formula incorporating official streams on subscription and ad-supported tiers of topping audio and video music services, plus download sales from top music retailers. This news follows the growth of Afrobeats from the shores of Africa to the world. In the previous years, the genre has yielded some of the biggest success stories of the young decade.

While lauding the move, the award-winning artiste debated that the requirement needed to cut only favours a section of creatives.

American Billionaire Elon Musk Puts Forward $41 billion To Buy Twitter.

So far American richest man Elon Musk has offers to buy to buy Twitter for about $41 billion in cash, saying the social media company he has often criticized needs to go private to see effective changes. According to him price of $54.20 per share, which was disclosed in a regulatory filing on Thursday, represents a 38% premium to Twitter’s April 1 close, the last trading day before Tesla CEO’s more than 9% stake in the company was made public.

70% of Ghanaians say the country is heading in wrong direction

The second national tracking poll by Global InfoAnalytics from the sixteen regions of the country has concluded that 67 per cent of respondents say the country is heading in the wrong direction.

“On the question of whether voters believe the country is heading in the right direction or wrong direction, only 25% were of the view that the country is heading in the right direction with 70

% saying it is heading in the wrong direction,” the survey said.

Regarding the flagbearership elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) the poll saw a remarkable fight back by Alan Kojo Kyeremanten in the race to lead the NPP in 2024 as he came from behind to lead Dr Mahamudu Bawumia by36% to 33%. Dr Bawumia had a commanding lead in the January 2022 polls where led Alan 40% to 28%.

The poll saw Alan Kyeremanten sweep the critical regions to take the lead. In what was a reversal of fortune, Alan Kyeremanten wins all the regions except Northern, North East, Upper West and Upper East regions.

In the race to lead the NDC, HE John Mahama continues to increase his lead over his rivals, the former minister of finance Dr Kwabena Dufour and Kojo Bonsu, former mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. John Mahama is backed by 57% of voter, Dr Dufour, 12% and Kojo Bonsu 4%.

The poll also shows the president’s job approval rating declining from 34% in January 2022 to 27% in April. 67% of voters disapprove the job performance of the president, resulting in net approval rating of 40% negative.

The decision of KNUST to defer students owing fees will affect them psychologically and their academic performance.

That’s according to the Speaker of the Students’ Parliament, Shamuna Suleman Gmakani, who is calling on the university’s authority to be lenient on the students.

Gmakanyi acknowledges that gambling is a widespread canker that the University has put in place measures to stop students from using online gambling platforms such as betting sites on campus to reduce students risking their monies in an attempt to earn profits from it.

He says some of the students have genuine reasons they could not meet the minimum requirement of the KNUST Fees Credit and Debt Management Policy and the rest on the other hand has no tangible reasons.

One of the affected students who spoke on the condition of anonymity appeals to the University authority to consider his plight and reverse its decision.

Alexander Dickson, not his real name, is the third child of his parents.

A second-year engineering student who was not able to meet the minimum requirements of the KNUST Fees Credit and Debt Management Policy.

Alexander says his mother is very sick and his father is a mear farmer who cannot afford to pay 1,750. He had to rely on a pastor and some benevolent people in society to pay his fees among others at level 100.

Realizing he could not pay this academic year, he had to travel to Accra and work to gather funds, but that money was used to solve other domestic challenges.

Alexander is not alone in this situation.There are a couple of students who are having difficulty paying their fees.

But there are others too who can afford it, but have used their fees to gamble and some also use their fees on other unnecessary stuffs to please themselves.

Shamuna says the decision of the KNUST to defer students owing fees will affect them psychologically and academically.

He however put to the university to soften its decision on the students.

His appeal is reiterated by Joseph Harry Turkson, a second-year law student.

Over 6,000 students at the Kwame Nkrumah Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have been asked to defer their courses.

Students were unable to meet the minimum requirements under the Credit and Debt Management Policy for University tuition fees.

The University had sent reminders to students to pay at least 70% of fees by April 7, 2022 to avoid automatic deferral.

Black Sherif is on another chart a day after making his solo debut on Billboard’s Top Triller Global Chart.

The rapper’s ‘Kwaku The Traveller’ debuted at number five on the new Billboard Afrobeat Songs Chart.

The song beat ‘Finesse’ (by Pheelz and Buju) and ‘Attention’ (by Omah Lay and Justin Beiber), all of which have been on the chart for four weeks, to claim the spot.

‘Kwaku The Traveller’ also follows Wizkid’s ‘Essense’ at number 3 and Tems’ ‘Free Mind’ at number four.

At number one is Ckay with ‘Love Nwantintin’.

‘Kwaku The Traveller’ is the third song to make the new Afrobeats Songs chart since its released on March 29, 2020.

DJ Nektunez’s ‘Amenor Amapiano’, which debuted at number seven on March 29, is at the 13th spot, and Kelvyn Boy’s ‘Down Flat‘ holds the 33rd spot putting Ghana music on the Globe 🙏🔥.

This comes after, on Tuesday, April 19, ‘Kweku The Traveller’ held the 12th spot on the Billboard Top Triller Global Chart.

This is not the first time the song is making waves beyond Ghana’s borders.

After its release, ‘ ‘Kwaku the Traveller’ became the first Ghanaian song to rise to number one on the Top 100 Apple Music Chart in Nigeria which was a big surprise to most Ghanaians and the world at as a whole.

It was also number one in Ghana and Gambia. It also debuted on Apple Music’s Global Top 100 at number 73.

On AudioMack, Black Sherif was among the most streamed Hip-Hop artists. He was ahead of Kodak Black, Lil Durk and JUICEWRLD.

According to Shazam, ‘Kweku The Traveller’ became the most searched song in the world as at April 9.

Currently, it is number two on YouTube’s trending music list, and the audio has garnered about 4.2 million views on the platform two weeks after its release.
